The combination of dry fuels, low relative humidity, and gusty winds will lead to increased fire danger today. Relative humidity values will drop to 25 to 30 percent, accompanied by northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

The combination of dry fuels, gusty west to northwest winds, and low relative humidity will lead to an increased risk of wildfires Monday afternoon. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. A statewide burn ban issued by the North Carolina Forest Service is currently in place. Open burning of any kind is illegal.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
