At 229 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Ocean Crest Pier, moving northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Wilmington, Leland, Oak Island, Carolina Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach, Figure Eight Island, Boiling Spring Lakes, St. James, Southport, and Hightsville. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 near mile marker 416. Interstate 140 between mile markers 15 and 20.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for southeastern North Carolina.
