Deep River At Moncure affecting Chatham and Lee Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Cape Fear River at Lillington. * WHEN...Until early Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Minor flooding begins. The boat launch ramp and wooden deck at The Riverside Restaurant are flooded. At 17.0 feet, Water threatens homes upstream on Riverside Hills Drive. At 19.0 feet, Moderate flooding begins. The storm drains on the north bank are inundated and water reaches the water treatment plant. Homes on Riverside Hills Drive are flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:28 AM EDT Monday the stage was 14.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.7 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Between 5 and 11 inches of rain fell with the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal and while no significant rainfall is expected today, it will take several hours before water begins to recede. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
