* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...The lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington. * WHEN...From 1 AM to 4 AM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...The lowest portions of USS North Carolina Road and Battleship Road begin to observe minor coastal flooding. Water begins to spread out of storm drains onto Water Street just south of Market Street in downtown Wilmington. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Affected areas listed are based on average tide conditions. Additional locations may experience flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, high winds, or other factors.

The combination of dry fuels, low relative humidity, and gusty winds will lead to increased fire danger on Wednesday. Relative humidity values will drop to 25 to 30 percent, accompanied by southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph.

The combination of dry fuels, gusty southwest to west winds, and low relative humidity of about 20-30% late Wednesday morning into Wednesday evening will lead to an increased risk for the rapid spread of wildfires on Wednesday. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. A statewide burn ban issued by the North Carolina Forest Service is currently in place. Open burning of any kind is illegal.
