Special Weather Statement issued March 22 at 2:28PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

Effective: Sun March 22, 2026, 2:28 PM
Expires: Mon March 23, 2026, 5:30 AM

Dry brush and leaf litter have become very dry in recent days due to breezy conditions and low relative humidity. These conditions are forecast again tomorrow. Relative humidity will fall below 30 percent for much of the afternoon and wind gusts may reach 25 mph at times. Given the dry vegetation, outdoor fires will be able to spread quickly once started, increasing the danger of wildfires. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
