* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Union County, North Carolina. * WHEN...Until 930 AM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. A few roads remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 328 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. The North and South Forks of Crooked Creek are also at an elevated stage and may be causing flooding of nearby low lying areas northwest of Monroe near Hemby Bridge. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Monroe, Matthews, Indian Trail, Stallings, Unionville, Wingate, Lake Park, Hemby Bridge and Fairview In Union County. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
