Special Weather Statement issued March 7 at 12:40AM EST by NWS Charleston SC

Effective: Sat March 7, 2026, 12:40 AM
Expires: Sat March 7, 2026, 3:00 AM

Areas of fog will continue to develop across much of the South Carolina Lowcountry and Southeast Georgia through 3 AM. The fog could become locally dense at times with visibility dropping to 1/4 mile or less. The nature of the fog is such that visibilities will vary greatly over short distances with the risk for locally dense fog being the greatest near bodies of water and other low- lying areas such as marshes, swamps and large ditches. Motorists should remain alert for these conditions this morning. It is possible more widespread dense fog could develop prior to daybreak and a Dense Fog Advisory may be issued.

If driving, slow down and leave extra distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
