Southwest winds will strengthen tonight with gusts of 30 to 35 expected from late tonight through Tuesday afternoon. Winds will shift to the west Tuesday morning. While additional snow accumulations will be light late tonight and Tuesday, the combination of these strong wind gusts and the recently fallen snow will likely create blowing and drifting snow, especially across rural and open areas. Motorists should be prepared for rapid changes in road conditions across short distances due to the drifting snow potential. In addition, bitterly cold wind chills as cold as 15 to 25 below can be expected tonight into Tuesday morning. Wind gusts will begin to subside Tuesday evening.
