The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an Air Quality Advisory for the following counties: Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kenosha, Marquette, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Washington and Waukesha. WHAT...The PM2.5 AQI is expected to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) to Unhealthy level. WHERE...Central into Southeast Wisconsin. WHEN...From 3 PM CDT Thursday until 11 PM CDT Friday. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: Sensitive groups: Consider rescheduling or moving all activities inside. Go inside if you have symptoms. People with asthma: Follow your asthma action plan and keep quick-relief medicine handy. People with heart disease: Symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue may indicate a serious problem. If you have any of these, contact your health care provider. Everyone else: Keep outdoor activities shorter and less intense. Go inside if you have symptoms. Additional Details: Canadian wildfire smoke has entered northwest Wisconsin Thursday, and will continue to move to the southeast through the remainder of the day. On Friday, smoke will begin moving south, including down Lake Michigan and into Green Bay, impacting central Wisconsin and eastern areas as well. It remains unclear how far south the smoke will make it down Lake Michigan, so the advisory has been extended all the way to Kenosha County. Winds will begin turning southerly Friday night into Saturday, at which point the smoke will begin moving back north. It is possible that the advisory will need to be extended into Saturday for some areas of Wisconsin. For more information on current air quality, please see: https://airquality.wi.gov
