...FLOOD WATCH EXTENDED IN SOUTHEASTERN AREAS... Additional shower and storm development is forecast through the overnight hours, with activity gradually tapering after sunrise this morning. Expecting that additional rainfall totals will remain at or below a half inch in many locations, though localized additional rainfall totals between 1-2 inches are possible in locations impacted by the heaviest thunderstorms and any repeated redevelopment. Given already saturated conditions, particularly over the southeast half of the region after last night's storms, this additional rainfall will lead to quick runoff and additional urban/small stream & potential flash flooding impacts. With thunderstorm potential most favored over far south-central and southeastern Wisconsin, the Flood Watch has thus been extended until 1 PM this afternoon from Rock, Jefferson, Washington, and all counties south and east to the Illinois border. Flood Watch remains in effect through 7 AM in areas further north and west. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Wisconsin, including the following counties, in south central Wisconsin, Rock. In southeast Wisconsin, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Flooding and flash flooding is possible from thunderstorms with heavy rain on saturated ground - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
