Special Weather Statement issued February 4 at 10:34PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Effective: Wed February 4, 2026, 10:34 PM
Expires: Thu February 5, 2026, 7:00 AM
Snow showers are developing along the Escarpment and are expected to generally drift east into the Piedmont from late evening through the overnight. Snow showers are possible roughly along a line from Greenville to Spartanburg to York and areas north and east. Most locations should only see a trace on mainly grassy and elevated surface. But localized accumulations of up to an inch are possible in the heavier showers. There is also still melting snow from last weekend's storm across portions of the North Carolina Foothills and Piedmont that may refreeze by daybreak Thursday and produce black ice. Be prepared for slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses and any untreated roadways. Use extra caution when walking on sidewalks, driveways, and in parking lots.
Special Weather Statement issued February 5 at 5:35AM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Effective: Thu February 5, 2026, 5:35 AM
Expires: Thu February 5, 2026, 10:00 AM
Light snow showers or flurries will move northeast across the area this morning. Most locations should only see a trace on mainly grassy and elevated surface, but localized accumulations of up to an inch are possible in the heavier showers. Black ice is possible where temperatures are below freezing with roads remaining wet from melting snow. Be prepared for slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses and any untreated roadways. Use extra caution when walking on sidewalks, driveways, and in parking lots.
Special Weather Statement issued February 4 at 11:13PM EST by NWS Morristown TN
Effective: Wed February 4, 2026, 11:13 PM
Expires: Thu February 5, 2026, 5:00 AM
Light snow will bring minor snow accumulations across portions of the Northern Valley, Southwest Virginia, and the East Tennessee Mountains before tapering off after midnight. Most areas will see no more than a dusting to a few tenths of an inch, but up to an inch may occur in a few locations. In addition, temperatures will fall into the 20s area wide tonight. Any wet spots on roads from recent rain or melting snow will re- freeze and create black ice. Be prepared for slick spots overnight into Thursday morning, especially on untreated roadways. Use caution if traveling.
Special Weather Statement issued February 5 at 4:58AM EST by NWS Morristown TN
Effective: Thu February 5, 2026, 4:58 AM
Expires: Thu February 5, 2026, 11:00 AM
Radar returns continue to weaken this morning, with just very light snow showers or flurries focused in portions of northeast Tennessee. These will continue to taper off over the next few hours. Through the morning, slick travel conditions will be possible area wide due to light snow accumulations and/or patchy black ice as any residual moisture on roadways freezes with temperatures falling into the 20s. Be prepared for slick spots, especially on untreated secondary roadways and overpasses. Use caution if traveling.
