Effective: Thu January 8, 2026, 10:55 AM
Expires: Fri January 9, 2026, 2:55 AM

Significant rainfall expected tonight through Friday. What: Total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm. When: Tonight through Friday. Additional information: A low pressure system is expected to bring rain to the area beginning tonight. The frozen ground will have a limited ability to absorb the rainfall and snow melt. Localized flash flooding and water pooling on roadways may occur for areas with poor drainage. Friday afternoon or evening temperatures will fall to below the freezing mark, any water on roadways and walkways will freeze, creating icy and slippery conditions. Uncertainty remains in the track and intensity of the low pressure system, as such rainfall amounts may change. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #ONStorm. The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
