Service Notice – February 2026: The Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) CAP Service undergoes changes from time to time as the business of alerting evolves. For 2026, changes are expected to include... 1) ECCC's initiative to introduce free-form polygons to represent the true threat area of a weather hazard is tentatively set for Spring 2026 deployment. Data changes will appear in CAP following this deployment and 2) other minor improvements and corrections.
Effective: Wed April 15, 2026, 3:46 AM
Expires: Wed April 15, 2026, 11:02 AM
Conditions are favourable for the development of squalls with wind gusts up to 45 knots, frequent lightning, hail and poor to very poor visibility in thunderstorms heavy at times. An area of thunderstorms approaching from Michigan just after midnight will cross the regions and track eastward. Damaging hail is possible. ### Poor to very poor visibility may contribute to voyage delays and make marine navigation hazardous. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. For more information monitor Canadian Coast Guard radio or Weatheradio stations.
Vessels without lightning protection should make their way to shore immediately. Consider delaying or postponing travel in areas under the Squall Watch.
