Lake effect snow squalls are possible this evening into Thursday morning. What: Hazardous travel conditions. Near zero visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow. Total local snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm. Intense snowfall rates up to 5 cm per hour at times. When: Beginning this evening into Thursday morning. Additional information: Strong bands of lake effect snow will develop off Lake Superior later this afternoon and may impact the area this evening into Thursday morning. There remains uncertainty, however, around how intense the snow squalls may be, how long they will remain in place and total snowfall amounts. ### Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #ONStorm. The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
