Effective: Thu March 5, 2026, 1:00 PM
Expires: Fri March 6, 2026, 7:00 AM

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations of a few hundredths up to three tenths of an inch. * WHERE...Portions of northwestern Connecticut, western Massachusetts, eastern New York, and southern Vermont. * WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to noon EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. A cooler trend with this system has reduced ice accumulations within the Mohawk Valley, Capital District, and Upper Hudson Valley. In these areas, the potential for freezing rain still exists, but for a shorter duration of time. Sleet now looks to be the primary wintry precipitation type in these areas overnight. This will still make for slick conditions particularly for the early morning commute tomorrow morning.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
