Coastal Flood Advisory issued February 1 at 11:48PM EST until February 2 at 2:00PM EST by NWS Boston/Norton MA

Effective: Sun February 1, 2026, 11:48 PM
Expires: Mon February 2, 2026, 2:00 PM

* WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (4.0 to 13.0 feet Mean Lower Low Water). * WHERE...The eastern Massachusetts coastline. * WHEN...Until 2 PM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Roads remain passable. Shallow pockets of flooding less than one foot deep affect more vulnerable coastal roads along the North Shore from Salem and Gloucester to Newburyport. Rough surf will likely cause some splashover onto coastal roads around the time of high tide. Roads remain passable. Low lying areas and roads near Nantucket Harbor, including Easy Street, may experience pockets of shallow flooding less than one foot deep. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Sub-freezing temperatures and very cold road surfaces could allow storm surge to freeze, prolonging impacts and delaying drainage even after high tide.

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (4.5 to 7.0 feet Mean Lower Low Water). * WHERE...The South Coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including Narragansett and Buzzards Bays. * WHEN...From 4 AM to 11 AM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Some water on low lying roads and property. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor overwash could freeze on vulnerable shoreline roads with those roads becoming slippery.

Do not drive through flooded roadways.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
