Coastal Flood Advisory issued October 7 at 5:23PM EDT until October 9 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL

Effective: Tue October 7, 2025, 5:23 PM
Expires: Wed October 8, 2025, 5:30 PM

* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Coastal Volusia, Indian River, Saint Lucie, Martin, and Brevard Counties. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Thursday. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

Onshore winds and above normal tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs. Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
