Special Weather Statement issued December 26 at 5:49AM EST by NWS Tampa Bay Ruskin FL

Effective: Fri December 26, 2025, 5:49 AM
Expires: Fri December 26, 2025, 7:45 AM

At 547 AM EST, satellite imagery and surface observations indicate fog is reducing visibilities to 1/4 mile or less at times across west central and southwest Florida. Motorists should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Use low beam headlights, reduce your speed, and maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and the one ahead of you.

Special Weather Statement issued December 26 at 5:12AM EST by NWS Jacksonville FL

Effective: Fri December 26, 2025, 5:12 AM
Expires: Fri December 26, 2025, 8:00 AM

Nighttime infrared satellite imagery and surface observations indicate that areas of locally dense fog continue to develop along the Interstate 75 corridor in the Suwannee Valley and north central Florida. Locations along and west of U.S. Highway 301 will likely be impacted by these areas of locally dense fog through the early to mid morning hours today. Fog will likely remain west of the Interstate 95 corridor this morning. The nature of the fog is such that visibilities will vary greatly over short distances. Motorists should be alert for rapidly changing conditions early this Friday morning. If you plan on driving along the Interstate 75 or U.S. Highway 301 corridors this morning, slow down and leave extra distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.

Effective: Fri December 26, 2025, 1:59 AM
Expires: Fri December 26, 2025, 8:00 AM

Nighttime infrared satellite imagery and surface observations indicate that areas of locally dense fog developing along the Florida Big Bend and Nature Coast are beginning to spread inland across portions of the Suwannee Valley and north central Florida. Locations along and west of Interstate 75 will likely be impacted by these areas of locally dense fog through the predawn hours on Friday, with fog then potentially spreading eastward towards the U.S. Highway 301 corridor in northeast and north central Florida towards sunrise. The nature of the fog is such that visibilities will vary greatly over short distances. Motorists should be alert for rapidly changing conditions overnight through the early morning hours on Friday. If you plan on driving along the Interstate 75 corridor overnight or early on Friday morning, slow down and leave extra distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
