At 300 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Eudora, or near De Soto, moving north at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Bonner Springs, De Soto, Tonganoxie, Basehor, Kansas City, Linwood, Reno, Fairmount, Jarbalo, Piper, and Clearview City. This includes Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 206 and 224.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. At 23.0 feet, Flooding occurs at the west approach to the N Highway bridge located 0.2 miles west of Blairstown. Flooding also occurs across B Highway near Big Creek which is several miles northwest of Blairstown. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 PM CDT Saturday the stage was 14.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning to a crest of 23.6 feet Monday morning.
