For 2025, changes are expected to include... 1) ECCC's initiative to upgrade the presentation of alerts into Colour-Coded Weather Alerts is planned for deployment on October 6, 2025. Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. What: Strong winds, especially over exposed coastal locations. When: Thursday afternoon through the evening. Where: Exposed coastal areas of the Sunshine Coast and East Vancouver Island north of Fanny Bay. Remarks: A strong frontal system will move cross the South Coast region from Thursday into Friday. Winds will increase to southeast 70 gusting to 90 km/h, in exposed areas near the Straight of Georgia early Thursday afternoon and persist through the evening. After the cold front passes, winds will ease overnight. ### Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches.
