Special Weather Statement issued April 9 at 5:37AM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ
Effective: Thu April 9, 2026, 5:37 AM
Expires: Thu April 9, 2026, 6:00 PM
There is an elevated risk for fire spread today for portions of eastern Pennsylvania. Minimum relative humidity values will drop to around 30 to 40 percent this afternoon. This will be accompanied by southerly winds with gusts up to 20 MPH. These conditions, along with the continued drying of fine fuels, could support the rapid spread of any fires that ignite, which could quickly become difficult to control. Conditions improve during the evening as the wind diminishes and the relative humidity increases. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Be sure to properly extinguish or dispose of any potential ignition sources, including smoking materials such as cigarette butts. This forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions and has been developed in coordination with state fire officials.
Special Weather Statement issued April 9 at 2:10AM EDT by NWS Albany NY
Effective: Thu April 9, 2026, 2:10 AM
Expires: Thu April 9, 2026, 6:00 PM
The combination of dry fine fuels, southerly wind gusts up to 15 to 25 mph, and relative humidity values as low as 20 to 35 percent will contribute to an elevated risk for fire spread today for portions of the Catskills and Mohawk Valley, with the lowest relative humidity and strongest winds occurring this afternoon. As a reminder, the annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14. No burn permits are issued. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts. Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation web site for more information on burn restrictions.
Special Weather Statement issued April 9 at 7:30PM EDT by NWS Albany NY

Expires: Fri April 10, 2026, 5:00 AM
The combination of dry fine fuels, southerly wind gusts between 20 and 25 mph, and relative humidity values between 30 to 35 percent will contribute to an elevated risk for fire spread tomorrow for portions of the Catskills and Hudson Valley. The lowest relative humidity values and strongest winds will likely occur tomorrow afternoon.
