Coastal Flood Advisory issued February 23 at 6:14AM EST until February 23 at 6:00PM EST by NWS Upton NY
Effective: Mon February 23, 2026, 6:14 AM
Expires: Mon February 23, 2026, 6:00 PM
* WHAT...Up to a foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Southwest Suffolk and Southern Nassau Counties. * WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 6 PM EST this evening. * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor coastal flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect up to 1 ft of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking surf of 5 to 10 ft along the ocean front will cause widespread beach flooding and erosion during the time of high tide. Areas of dune erosion are likely, with localized washovers possible where dunes are compromised.
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
Blizzard Warning issued February 23 at 12:55PM EST until February 23 at 6:00PM EST by NWS Upton NY
Effective: Mon February 23, 2026, 12:55 PM
Expires: Mon February 23, 2026, 6:00 PM
* WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut and southeast New York. * WHEN...Until 6 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions. A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay in your vehicle.
