...LONG DURATION SNOW WITH IMPACTFUL ACCUMULATION EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHERN MINNESOTA INTO WESTERN WISCONSIN THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... .Light snow will continue spreading eastward over central and southern MN into western WI this morning, persisting throughout the day today, with moderate intensity at times. Snow will then gradually diminish from west to east across MN into WI this evening through early morning Sunday. ...WINTER STORM TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING... .Snow has begun to move east of the Mississippi River this morning as a winter storm continues eastward through the Midwest. A prolonged period of moderate to heavy snowfall is expected across the region through Sunday morning with areas along and south of Interstate 90 expected to receive at least 6 inches of snow. The highest snowfall amounts are favored over northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin where 8+ inches of snow is expected. The heaviest snowfall rates will occur this afternoon over northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin where rates approaching 1 inch per hour are possible at times. Tonight, winds begin to increase with gusts of 25 to 35 mph. These winds combined with the falling snow and blowing of the fresh snowpack will lead to near blizzard conditions at times through Sunday morning. Travel could be very difficult today and tonight, so those with travel plans are strongly urged to delay them. Snow tapers off from west to east on Sunday. * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches. * WHERE...Portions of central and west central Wisconsin. * WHEN...Until 6 AM CST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Visit 511wi.gov for road conditions.

...WINTER STORM CONTINUES THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING... .Light to moderate snow has overspread the Driftless region and is expected to continue through this evening. Snow rates have generally been around a half inch per hour with rates closer to an inch per hour south of Highway 18 in northeast Iowa. While visibility largely remains at least a half mile across the region, roads are becoming partially to fully covered by snow and are consequently becoming dangerously slick. These difficult travel conditions will continue through tonight. Tonight, gusty winds to around 35 mph will develop. Thus, while snow rates will taper off this evening, visibility may drop to a half mile or less, with very difficult travel conditions expected overnight as a result. * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches. * WHERE...Portions of central and west central Wisconsin. * WHEN...Until 6 AM CST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Visit 511wi.gov for road conditions.

...WINTER STORM CONTINUES THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING... .Light to moderate snow continues across northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and west central and southwest Wisconsin. Snow intensity should take a small step upward this afternoon as the low pressure center approaches eastern Iowa. While snow intensity should then decrease later this evening, light snow may linger through the nighttime hours, leading to continued hazardous road conditions. Additionally, winds will increase late this evening into tonight leading to blowing snow, particularly west of the Mississippi River valley where near-blizzard conditions may occur. Thus, in addition to slippery roads, visibility may be greatly restricted as well with very difficult travel conditions expected through the overnight hours west of the Mississippi. * WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches. * WHERE...West central Wisconsin and, in southeast Minnesota, Wabasha, Winona, and Houston Counties. * WHEN...Until 6 AM CST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Plan on slippery road conditions.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. In Minnesota, visit 511mn.org for road conditions. In Wisconsin, visit 511wi.gov for road conditions.
