Special Weather Statement issued March 10 at 2:43PM CDT by NWS Grand Forks ND

Effective: Tue March 10, 2026, 2:43 PM
Expires: Wed March 11, 2026, 2:00 PM

A strong system will move through the Dakotas into Minnesota Thursday evening into Friday morning, bringing accumulating snow and gusty winds. Snow accumulations will range between 2 and 6 inches, with gusty winds of 50 to 60 mph possible. Gusty winds combined with accumulating snow will reduce visibility. There is a 20 percent chance for blizzard conditions within northeast North Dakota and the Red River Valley. While there is potential for significant winter and wind impacts, there remains large uncertainty in location and severity of impacts. If you plan on traveling within the region during this time, check the latest forecast. Consider alternate travel plans.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
