Special Weather Statement issued February 1 at 9:05PM CST by NWS Bismarck ND

Effective: Sun February 1, 2026, 9:05 PM
Expires: Mon February 2, 2026, 4:00 AM

Narrow bands of heavy snow could develop across parts of northwest and north central North Dakota Monday morning. The most likely locations to be impacted are along the Highway 52 corridor from the Canadian border to Harvey, but they could occur anywhere north of the Missouri River, Lake Sakakawea, and Highway 200. The narrow bands of heavy snow could produce snowfall rates in excess of one inch per hour and reduce visibility below one half mile. Outside of these heavier snow bands, expect a lighter snowfall with total amounts around 1 to 3 inches. Be prepared for difficult travel and reduced visibility on the Monday morning commute, and be sure to check the latest road conditions before departing.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
