Special Weather Statement issued March 24 at 6:43AM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX

Effective: Tue March 24, 2026, 6:43 AM
Expires: Tue March 24, 2026, 9:00 AM

Satellite imagery, surface observations, and webcameras indicate that areas of fog have developed across much of Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley early this morning. Visibilities are generally reduced to between 2 and 4 miles, with more isolated pockets of fog reducing the visibility to 1 mile or less. This fog is likely to persist until after sunrise this morning. Motorists are urged to reduce speed, use low beam headlights, and avoid tailgating in any fog through the next several hours.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
