Rip Current Statement issued April 9 at 2:28PM EDT until April 12 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Miami FL
Effective: Thu April 9, 2026, 2:28 PM
Expires: Fri April 10, 2026, 6:00 AM
* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Coastal Broward County and Coastal Miami Dade County. * WHEN...Through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
Coastal Flood Statement issued April 9 at 4:07PM EDT until April 10 at 5:00AM EDT by NWS Key West FL
Effective: Thu April 9, 2026, 4:07 PM
Expires: Fri April 10, 2026, 12:15 AM
* WHAT...Minor saltwater flooding. * WHERE...Upper Florida Keys. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Minor saltwater flooding of low elevation streets and lots is likely. Some storm drains will overflow, and some seawalls and docks will be overtopped. Boaters can expect less clearance under fixed bridges. Motorists should remember that persistent puddles around the times of high tide are almost certain to contain a mix of saltwater. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong to gale force winds north of the Florida Keys are generating enhanced swell along the western coastline of Florida. The swell, in turn, is causing elevated waters along the Middle and Upper Keys.
Do not drive through flooded roadways.
