At 213 PM EDT, National Weather Service meteorologists were tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Lake Harbor to 9 miles south of Devils Garden. Movement was southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... South Bay, Lake Harbor, Okeelanta, Holey Land Wildlife Refuge, Big Cypress Seminole Reservation, Rotenberger Wildlife Refuge, Belle Glade Camp, and Big Cypress National Preserve.
These winds can down small tree limbs and branches, and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storm passes. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
