Total snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches with localized amounts up to 12 inches possible. * WHERE...Anchorage and Lower Matanuska Valley. * WHEN...From 9 AM Saturday to 9 AM AKST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An initial round of light snow is still expected later this evening, but new snowfall through Saturday morning will stay light, generally an inch or less. A second round of heavier snowfall will develop sometime late Saturday morning or Saturday afternoon across Anchorage and Eagle River, then spread northeast into the Matanuska Valley through Saturday evening. The heaviest snow will likely be Saturday night. Snow will then gradually end through Sunday morning.

Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow is now initially expected to begin late tonight. There could be a break in heavier snowfall along and east of the Parks Highway Saturday morning. The heaviest snow is expected during the day Saturday for most of the Susitna Valley shifting to Hatcher Pass and the Talkeetna Mountains Saturday night. Snow will gradually end from southwest to northeast Sunday morning.
