Flood Watch issued July 19 at 5:34PM AKDT until July 20 at 10:00PM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK
Effective: Sun July 19, 2026, 5:34 PM
Expires: Mon July 20, 2026, 10:00 PM
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...The following areas, Anchorage Bowl and Eagle River. This includes the cities of Anchorage, Eagle River, Eklutna, and Indian. * WHEN...From 4 AM AKDT Monday through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water levels on the Chester and Campbell Creeks will remain elevated through Tuesday morning. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Around one inch of rain has already fallen across the Anchorage Bowl as of Sunday afternoon. The steady rainfall continuing across West Anchorage and JBER as of 5pm is likely (60-70%) to taper off to a very light rain or sprinkles by later this evening. A second round of moderate to heavy rain is then likely (80-90%) to develop just in time for the Monday morning commute through Monday evening before tapering off. An additional 0.50" to 1" of rain is likely (70-80%) with a low chance (10-20%) of amounts exceeding 1". This second round of rain on top of already saturated ground may lead to further ponding of water on area roads, localized urban flooding, and increased water levels for area creeks and streams. Additional rainfall may also lead to rockfalls along the Seward Highway south of Anchorage. - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Stay tuned to further developments by listening to your local radio, television, or NOAA Weather Radio for further information.
