* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...the Yentna River and tributaries at and above Lake Creek. * WHEN...Until 1000 AM AKDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...At 20.5 feet, water begins to inundate several low-lying cabins. At 22.0 feet, more extensive flooding of cabins, resorts, and private property. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 545 PM AKDT, Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The river gage at Lake Creek and other gages across the Susitna Valley show considerable rises across area rivers. Additional rainfall amounts of around an inch are expected. For Yentna River at Lake Creek: At 5:00pm the stage was 20.9 feet and rising. Flood Stage is 20.5 feet. Forecast: A crest around 23 feet is expected around Friday night into early Saturday morning with an estimated crest time at 4 am Saturday. The river will then begin to fall and is expected to go below flood stage Sunday. This may equal or exceed the August 2024 crest of 22.4 feet. - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Water over roadways. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. Significant runoff may cause flooding of creeks and rivers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1120 AM AKDT, trained weather spotters reported flooding from the recent heavy rain. This is occurring from overflow of poor drainage areas, especially near Kroto Creek and other small streams near and along the Petersville Road. * WHAT...Flooding caused by previous excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Matanuska River. * WHEN...Until 200 AM AKDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...River levels have exceeded those observed in early July and early August, and increased bank erosion is expected along the lower Matanuska River. Minor flooding is expected in low-lying and poor drainage areas along and near the Matanuska River. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1221 AM AKDT, river gauge reports indicate rises in water levels from previous days heavy rain across the advisory area. This will cause minor flooding from overflow of poor drainage areas, especially along and near the Matanuska River. - Impacts: At 15000.0 cfs: Action Flow - This discharge (flow) level represents the higher end of the typical summertime range, and will likely be reached at least once nearly every year. Localized minor out-of-bank flooding may start to occur along parts of the Glenn highway, especially east of Sutton from milepost 64 to 66. At 30000.0 cfs: Minor Flood Flow - This discharge (flow) level has a roughly 20 percent chance of being reached in any given year. Additional vulnerable locations near the active river channel may experience some flooding at this level west of the Old Glenn Highway in the Butte and near Sutton from Milepost 64 to 66. Residents are advised that for the past several years at both of these locations, the main channel of the river has been shifting closer to the bank. At 35000.0 cfs: Moderate Flood Flow - This discharge (flow) level has a roughly 10 percent chance of being reached in any given year. Flooding near vulnerable locations along the active river channel may become more significant and widespread. This level was reached during the flooding in 2012. - For Matanuska River at Palmer: At 11:30pm the stage was 39300.0 cfs. Flood Stage is 12.5 feet. Forecast: A crest around 12.7 feet is expected around 4:00am Saturday. - For Talkeetna River at the Talkeetna Railroad Bridge: At 10:00pm the stage was 14.82 feet. Major Flood Stage is 15.0 feet. The river is expected to crest early Saturday just above Major Flood Stage then begin to fall. - For Susitna River near Sunshine: At 10:00pm the stage was 25.9 feet.
