Special Weather Statement issued November 6 at 3:35PM AKST by NWS Anchorage AK

Effective: Thu November 6, 2025, 3:35 PM
Expires: Fri November 7, 2025, 6:00 AM

Gusty northerly winds will continue to increase through the day today as an area of low pressure approaches from the south. Snow will develop across the Bear Creek and Seward areas later this morning. Snow may be heavy at times this afternoon with several inches of snow accumulation possible. Temperatures are expected to warm into the mid 30s by late Thursday afternoon. Any warmer air will help to minimize the potential of blowing and drifting snow due to the gusty winds. Warmer air may also allow for rain to mix with the snow helping to reduce snowfall totals. Wind gusts up to 50 mph remain possible this afternoon and evening.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
