Special Weather Statement issued February 10 at 1:50AM PST by NWS Portland OR

Effective: Tue February 10, 2026, 1:50 AM
Expires: Tue February 10, 2026, 5:00 AM

Patchy dense fog limiting visibility to one mile or less has developed across western portions of the Portland/Vancouver metro this morning. Eastern portions of the metro including Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, Camas, and Washougal are less likely to see travel impacts from reduced visibility. Fog may not be uniformly dense and commuters should expect rapid changes in visibility on area roadways. Dense fog is most likely to occur in areas sheltered from winds as well as areas near waterways including lakes and rivers. Locales less sheltered from winds may instead see low overcast skies where only hilltops experience reduced visibility. Drivers should slow down and leave plenty of following distance. Pedestrians and cyclists should wear bright or reflective clothing to increase the chances of being seen by others in poor visibility conditions.

Dense Fog Advisory issued February 10 at 1:05AM PST until February 10 at 9:00AM PST by NWS Portland OR

Effective: Tue February 10, 2026, 1:05 AM
Expires: Tue February 10, 2026, 9:00 AM

* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog. * WHERE...Central and Southern Willamette Valley, Lower Columbia River and Cowlitz River Valleys, Tualatin Valley, and North Clark County Lowlands. * WHEN...Until 9 AM PST this morning. * IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Fog may not be uniformly dense across the region and drivers should expect rapid changes in visibility on roadways. Dense fog is most likely to occur in sheltered valleys and near waterways including lakes and rivers. Locales less sheltered from wind may instead see low overcast skies where only hilltops experience reduced visibility.

If driving, slow down and leave plenty of distance ahead of you. Pedestrians and cyclists should wear bright or reflective clothing to increase the chances of being seen by others in poor visibility conditions.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
