Hydrologic Outlook issued April 8 at 3:56PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR

Effective: Wed April 8, 2026, 3:56 PM
Expires: Thu April 9, 2026, 8:00 PM

ESFPDT Moderate rain this weekend in the Washington Cascades and northern Blue Mountains combined with snowmelt from well above normal temperatures will lead to rivers rises this weekend and early next week. Most rivers are currently running low and the increased streamflows will not be a problem. However, the Naches River at Cliffdell and at Naches and the Grande Ronde River at Troy are expected to rise above Action Stage Saturday and continue through Monday night. Only localized minor flooding is expected. Please monitor the latest river forecasts from the National Weather Service for additional information.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
