For Fall 2024, changes are expected to include... 1) location adjustments to the new Coastal Flooding Warning Program that has been implemented back in Spring 2024, 2) Marine Warning Program and Hurricane Warning Program (for tropical cyclone information statements only) will start to use water zone splits, 3) new parameters in CAP will be created to represent the weather event's start time and the weather event's end time, 4) ECCC's initiative to upgrade the presentation of alerts into a risk-colour tiered structure is in progress. Existing elements’ values will be updated and new parameters will be added in a future release, and 5) other minor improvements and corrections. Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. A fast moving Alberta clipper continues to give severe westerly or northwesterly wind gusts to portions of southern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba. Sustained winds of 60 to 70 km/h with gusts of 90 to 100 km/h will continue into the early evening. The winds will ease later on this evening and through the overnight. ### Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Utility outages may occur. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to SKstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #SKStorm.
