Heavy snow and strong winds will result in HIGH (4 of 5) avalanche danger *WHERE... The San Juan Mountains and the Park Range *WHEN... Expect very dangerous avalanche conditions to begin Wednesday and last through Friday *IMPACTS... Large and dangerous avalanches will be easy to trigger. Large avalanches will run naturally. *PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel in backcountry avalanche terrain is not recommended from Wednesday through Friday. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph over the mountain passes. * WHERE...North Park, Grand and Summit Counties Below 9000 Feet, Rocky Mountain National Park and the Medicine Bow Range, and The Mountains of Summit County, the Mosquito Range, and the Indian Peaks. * WHEN...Until 11 PM MST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less, with potential for sudden snow squalls to bring quick intense bursts of snow, rapidly reduced visibility, and treacherous travel conditions.
