Effective: Sun October 12, 2025, 3:26 PM
Expires: Mon October 13, 2025, 4:00 AM

ESFABQ Heavy rainfall in Colorado has resulted in high flows across multiple rivers across northwest New Mexico. Bankfull conditions have already been reported across the Animas River in Farmington and very high flows have also been reported on the San Juan River near Shiprock. Though river levels have crested for today and will come down through the evening and overnight hours, additional rainfall on Monday and Tuesday will cause these rivers to rise once again. For your safety, stay away from the banks of these rivers. This fast running water could easily sweep away those distracted near the bank of the river. Avoid any recreational activities on these rivers through at least Wednesday. Expect rises and impacts to nearby roads and low water crossings. Stay aware of any flash flood or river flood warnings that are issued.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
