Multiple fronts associated with an atmospheric river are currently moving over the southern panhandle through the end of the week, including Ketchikan. Efficient rainfall with unseasonably warm temperatures and snow levels has lead to localized flooding near the Ward Lake area. The next frontal passage is currently moving through the southern panhandle as of Wednesday morning, this front expected to bring sufficient rainfall to bring conditions back into minor flood. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Ward Lake near areas near the Ward Lake recreational area. * WHEN...Until 300 PM AKST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1254 AM AKST, gauge reports indicated heavy rain across the advisory area. Minor flooding is expected to begin shortly, especially near Ward Lake. Between 1.5 and 2.0 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 3.0 inches are possible. - For Lake Connell Dam: At 8:00am Tuesday morning the stage was 251.8 feet. Flood Stage is 252 feet.
