Flood Watch issued March 5 at 3:33PM ChST until March 17 at 7:00AM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU

Effective: Thu March 5, 2026, 3:33 PM
Expires: Fri March 6, 2026, 5:30 PM

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Guam, Rota, Saipan and Tinian. * WHEN...From late Friday night Until Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A broad tropical disturbance will interact with a shear line, impacting the Marianas late this week, through the weekend, and into next weekend. Several rounds of heavy to very heavy rainfall will be possible during this time frame. This could lead to 5 to 10 inches of rain across the Marianas with locally heavy amounts. Due to the wet antecedents from early this week, the conditions for flash flooding could be met at a lower threshold. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Effective: Fri March 6, 2026, 4:28 AM
Expires: Fri March 6, 2026, 6:30 PM

* WHAT...Large breaking waves between 7 to 10 feet and dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...North facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Monday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Long-period northerly swell continues to move through the Marianas, producing hazardous surf and dangerous rip currents along north-facing reefs through Monday afternoon. Over the weekend, a broad tropical disturbance will move near the Marianas as a shear line becomes draped over the CNMI, leading to an increase in north to northeast swell. This could potentially lead to a high risk of rip currents along east facing reefs over the weekend.

Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

The times presented here are based upon the solunar theory, which is the idea that the movements of fish and other animals are affected by the location of the sun and moon. The major periods are believed to be the times of the greatest animal activity and occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (lunar transits). The minor periods also see increased activity and occur when the moon is rising or setting. The strongest activity occurs during full or new moons, and the weakest during quarter or three quarter moons. This is indicated by the Action Rating.
